The Cain Pit

Punk

THE CAIN PIT - PUNKGRASS QUINTET from Norwich, Norfolk (UK). The band formed during the end of the world, originally as a studio project. However, when it turned out the world wasn't ending any more, cousins and founding members Daryl Blyth (vocals, double bass) and Scott Blyth (guitar) decided to try and make the studio project a real-life band based on interest from demos they’d shared. After a year of stops and starts, Scott and Daryl managed to weed out the most suitable hillbilly punks in the area: Isaac Crass (banjo), Joe Halliday (acoustic guitar and harmonica), and Jamie Tritton (drums). The idea for the band is to combine their love of punk rock, bluegrass and other roots music. The Cain Pit like to think they bridge a gap somewhere between a bluegrass band and a millennial punk rock band, jumping off said bridge and paddling in some sort of roots-rockabilly-punk primordial soup, emerging to sing sugar-coated melodies with crunchy bitter centers. You can expect lightning fast banjo pickin’, slap double bass, and double time drums that bathe alongside the caress of distortion and percussive acoustic guitar thacking.Sing-a-long, stomp your foot and raise your Whiskey for The Cain Pit! Though the band have only been performing a short time they’ve quickly gained a following. All DIY, no label backing, no bots raising plays. Just grass roots hard work. Which paid off with their 2nd single “ROSES” that gained 9,000 plays within 24 hours across social platforms. May 2024 saw The Cain Pit release their debut E.P “SORROW” which features previous and well received singles “Roses”, “Alder” and “Platform” as well as additional songs. “Sorrow” showcases exactly what The Cain Pit can do, showing a perfect example of what they call “PUNKGRASS!”.
